Michael J. Roche
Senior Vice President, Claims
Allstate Insurance Company

Michael J. Roche is senior vice president for the Allstate’s Claim organization and a member of Allstate's senior management team. He is responsible for the largest employee group at Allstate, overseeing 17,000 employees countrywide who handle more than six million claims on an annual basis. He is also CEO of Sterling's Collision Centers Inc., a network of auto repair facilities acquired by Allstate in 2001.

Roche was previously the senior vice president of Protection Technology and Administration. In that role, he was responsible for all aspects of Protection technology and also had responsibility for agency and customer support functions and the Allstate call centers, as well as leadership for the integration of various shared service functions.

Roche joined Allstate in February 2002 as vice president, information technology at Allstate Financial, where he was responsible for technology strategy, application development and interfacing with the corporate technology organization. He was named group vice president and chief information officer of Allstate Protection Technology upon its creation in January 2003.

Prior to Allstate, Roche was group president of small business finance at Heller Financial. Prior to that position, he served as Heller's chief information officer from 1990-1994. He also spent 17 years at Continental Illinois National Bank in various IT positions, including managing director of IT applications development.

He is a member of the board of directors of One Economy, a national non-profit organization that helps bring access to technology into the homes of low-income people around the country. He is also chairman of the board of trustees of Rosary High School in Aurora, IL and served as a director of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.

Roche received his Bachelor's degree in mathematics and Master's in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University.

Joseph H. Wehrle, Jr., serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for NICB (www.nicb.org). From 2003 – 2007, Mr. Wehrle was Senior Vice President, then President of USAA Property and Casualty Insurance Group.  As President of USAA, Mr. Wehrle led nearly 11,000 employees located in six national and two international locations catering to over five million members.  He had overall responsibility for an $8 billion book of business, which experienced record growth for auto, property and homeowners insurance during his tenure.

Mr. Wehrle completed a distinguished 33-year career in the United States Air Force having risen to the rank of lieutenant general.  He served in various leadership positions with the U.S. Air Force and retired in 2003 as the Air Force Assistant Vice Chief of Staff. 

Mr. Wehrle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, New York (1970), and a Masters Degree in business administration and management from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah (1979).  He is also a graduate of the Air Force Air Command and Staff College (1983) and the National War College (1987).

   

Richard Woollams

Richard Woollams is the Chief Claims Officer of Chartis U.S. (formerly AIG Commercial Insurance), a position he assumed in April of 2008. In this capacity, he oversees the operation of Chartis U.S.’s Primary Claims, P & C Severity Claims, Financial Lines Claims, Claims Resources and Solutions, Commercial Property Claims, Lexington Claims, Aviation Claims, Canadian Claims, Structured Settlements and Claims Operations and Systems organizations. Prior to assuming this role, Rick was the President of P&C Severity Claims for AIG Domestic Claims Inc., where he was responsible for the operations of the Aviation, Canadian, Lexington, Excess, Environmental, Asbestos, Mass Tort, Healthcare, Excess Worker’s Compensation, Pollution Insurance Product (PIP), Risk Finance, AIG CAT Excess and Commercial Property claim departments. He held that position from 2002 to 2008. Previously, Rick served as Senior Vice President, leading the Excess Casualty Claims Department of AIG Technical Services, Inc. (AIGTS) - the predecessor to AIG Domestic Claims – a position he held for over four years.

Prior to joining AIGTS, Rick was the Second Vice President for Strategic Claims at Travelers Property Casualty. He began his career in the insurance industry in 1988 with Travelers, holding a variety of claims positions there before joining AIG Domestic Claims.

Before joining Travelers, Rick was an attorney in private practice in Ohio. He graduated from the Cleveland State University John Marshall School of Law in 1979 and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in November of the same year. Rick was the Chairman of the Claim Committee for the American Excess Insurance Association and is a current member of the Claim Committee for American Nuclear Insurers.
